Sequence literacy for formulary buyers

A practical vocabulary for peptide chains, fragments, and research classifications.

Peptide sequences are written from the N-terminus to the C-terminus in one- or three-letter amino acid codes. Modifications such as acetylation, amidation or cyclisation are noted beside the chain, and each one changes the molecular weight.

Fragments and analogues are named for the parent sequence they come from; blends list every component with its amount. On a listing, the name, the amount per vial and the research classification identify the material. They do not describe an effect.

Where a listing does not show a sequence or molecular weight, request it with the batch documents for your protocol.
